Sports Cars

Most of my life, I’ve had sports cars.  I didn’t take photos of all my cars through the years, so facsimiles will have to do.

My first car was a 1973 Datsun 240Z.  I liked the car overall.  Loved the shape, but it had exhaust leaks (which I know how to fix now- but didn’t back then).  It had no power steering and a stiff suspension- but there was not much under the hood- so you could work on it!  Highly collectible now- wish I still had it.

My 2nd sports car was a 1980 Nissan 280ZX 2+2.  I liked this car even more.  Had air conditioning, cruise control, and a soft suspension ride.  The back seat was helpful when I later had a wife and 2 kids!

The next sports car was a free car my neighbor gave me- a 1983  Nissan 280ZX.  It was not running when I got it and I enjoyed rebuilding/restoring it.  By this time around the year 2000, the Internet was well popular and I found all kinds of useful info.  I got this car running great.

When it was time to buy a new car (as a middle age guy now), I found that some of those old cars were a little low and hard to get out of.  I kind of wanted a Nissan 370Z- but my wife was claustrophobic in it.  Our solution was a 2015 Dodge Challenger SXT.  And I must confess, this has become my favorite.  It is a 6-cylinder version and gets great gas mileage.  People tease me and ask why I would want a muscle car with only 6 cylinders?  And my answer is 10 grand!  I don’t need to burn rubber with 8 cylinders for all the extra money.  It has a big trunk and is very comfortable on long trips.  My wife likes it- and that’s the most important thing to me.
